Available Positions:

Head of Scenic Art.

Rocket Scenery has, over 20 years or more, built a reputation of beautifully finished quality scenery for the West End and UK and International Theatre.

We are looking for a Head of Scenic Art to lead our team of Scenic Artists, Painters and Freelancers in the continuation of this work.  The successful applicant will need to have at least 2 years’ proven experience of managing both projects and, at times, a large team.  Working with some of the best designers, they will be required to use a broad range of scenic techniques, equipment and materials to sample, create finishes and textures. The post is not purely managerial and the successful candidate will also paint alongside the department.

Rocket Scenery is a company blessed with great workshops, paint frame and permanent floor painting area. The successful candidate will be joining a welcoming and friendly team of specialist craftspeople from metal fabricators, carpenters to scenic electricians.

The position is full-time and comes with all employee benefits including overtime pay after 38 hours, holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions and our working week finishes at 1pm on a Friday so a longer weekend.

Head of Metal Shop.

Salary:  £31K- £34K/pa depending on experience.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Head of Metalshop to lead our metal fabrication team building scenery for theatrical productions for UK and overseas.  Working with some of the best designers, you will use a broad range of construction techniques and materials and will fabricate scenery and oversee operations within the metalshop, ensuring high-quality production and efficient workflow.

They will be joining a friendly, creative company where work is fast-paced and every day is different.

Rocket Scenery is a company equipped with great workshops and tools. The successful candidate will be joining a welcoming and friendly team of specialist craftspeople from Metal Fabricators, Scenic Painters, Draughtspeople, to Scenic Electricians.

Responsibilities

– Weld and fabricate scenery from mild steel and aluminium
– Manage and supervise the team of metalshop staff
– Plan and schedule production tasks to meet deadlines
– Monitor inventory levels and order materials as needed
– Inspect finished products for quality assurance
– Implement and maintain health and safety standards within the metalshop
– Collaborate with other departments to fulfil project requirements

Required Skills
– Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding techniques
– Familiarity of creating 3D structures and bespoke items
– Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills
– Proficient in reading and building from construction drawings
– Knowledge of metalshop equipment operation and maintenance

Desirable Skills
– Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role
– Passed a Welder Approval Test
